If you’re planning to visit Korea, here’s one of the things you MUST try! Aside from the shopping, sight-seeing, and food, one of the ways to experience the authentic and local Korean life is by going to a jjimjilbang (Korean traditional sauna). Locals often go to a jjimjilbang to relax, keep warm, and blow off their stress. It is said that going here can help clean out your pores and relieve muscle pain.
We at Playplanet are hosting this unique experience, so include this on your travel itinerary! Last Tuesday, we hosted these amazing people from different parts of the world, and we had a blast!
First, we went to this large room with thousands of beads. It was really really hot (85 degrees Celsius!!!) but very good to relax our tired muscles. Since it’s winter, this is a good place to keep warm too~
Next, we went to the ice room where it’s -18 degrees!!! Since the previous sauna room was supposed to open our pores and get rid of excess oil and dirt, this room will close our pores and make them tighter 😉
Time to eat! But before that, our local host Yeji taught us how to make the popular sheep hat you can see in a lot of Korean dramas.
These are what Koreans usually eat while at the sauna- roasted eggs and sikhye, a cool drink mixed with rice. Really delicious! 😀
One more trip to the oven! This room has tiny pebbles in it, which is a good way to massage our bodies. It was so relaxing, we didn’t want to go!
Last but not the least, face masks! Face masks are very popular in Korea as they keep your skin cool and hydrated. We wore animal and Christmas edition face masks. Can you tell which animal are we? Can you spot Santa Claus too? 😉
It was really a new and memorable experience for our lovely travelers. This was an experience they surely won’t forget and would highly recommend to their friends.
