[Korea Bucket List] Traditional Sauna Experience!

If you’re planning to visit Korea, here’s one of the things you MUST try! Aside from the shopping, sight-seeing, and food, one of the ways to experience the authentic and local Korean life is by going to a jjimjilbang (Korean traditional sauna). Locals often go to a jjimjilbang to relax, keep warm, and blow off their stress. It is said that going here can help clean out your pores and relieve muscle pain.

We at Playplanet are hosting this unique experience, so include this on your travel itinerary! Last Tuesday, we hosted these amazing people from different parts of the world, and we had a blast!

First, we went to this large room with thousands of beads. It was really really hot (85 degrees Celsius!!!) but very good to relax our tired muscles. Since it’s winter, this is a good place to keep warm too~

Next, we went to the ice room where it’s -18 degrees!!! Since the previous sauna room was supposed to open our pores and get rid of excess oil and dirt, this room will close our pores and make them tighter 😉

Time to eat! But before that, our local host Yeji taught us how to make the popular sheep hat you can see in a lot of Korean dramas.

These are what Koreans usually eat while at the sauna- roasted eggs and sikhye, a cool drink mixed with rice. Really delicious! 😀

One more trip to the oven! This room has tiny pebbles in it, which is a good way to massage our bodies. It was so relaxing, we didn’t want to go!

Last but not the least, face masks! Face masks are very popular in Korea as they keep your skin cool and hydrated. We wore animal and Christmas edition face masks. Can you tell which animal are we? Can you spot Santa Claus too? 😉

It was really a new and memorable experience for our lovely travelers. This was an experience they surely won’t forget and would highly recommend to their friends.

Are you also interested in trying Korea’s traditional sauna? Click here to book our Korean sauna experience at Playplanet! Our local host Yeji will guide you throughout the whole experience, so you don’t need to worry about anything. Just come, relax, and have fun! 🙂

Want to try something new? Let’s play an ANTARA!

There was a PlayPlanet Travel at Itaewon on a scorching hot day!

This time we went to PERU which is located in South America!

Before we went on a long journey we had to fill our stomach!

This delicious looking taco was made by Samson, owner of Tiger House Guesthouse.

First of all, this is our local host, Oscar Pajares from Peru.

He started our journey with an introduction about his beloved country.

Unlike South Korea,  Peru has hundreds of different types of potatoes.

We couldn’t believe there was this much! :O

Their price varies from $1 to $20 per 1kg.

Peru has three different topographies. It consists of a coastal plain in the west, high mountains in the center and a jungle area in the east that leads to the Amazon River.

This is why their music and food have different characteristics in each area.

This is a picture of Macchu Picchu! Oscar has been here 10 times already but he felt differently each time.

It is a beautiful place which surely can’t be described in words.

This is his hometown and all the antaras we used were made with the bamboo grown there.

There are 3 names for antara but we wont tell you!

You can find it out if you join our trip! 😉

After Oscar’s informative presentation, we started the antara class!

Oscar saying ‘ Make a little circle with your lips and blow hard!’

It was similar to playing a flute but it wasn’t easy to make a melody by moving our lips from left to right.

We also easily ran out of breath!

All of us decided to practice the Arirang song, which was familiar to all of us.

We listened to Oscar’s performance first and practiced on our own.

We had to stand in front of the wall in order to hear our sound more clearly.

This really helped us not to get distracted by other’s sound.

How about going on a trip to PERU with Playplanet next time?

Stay tuned for our next scheduled trip to Peru!
